Making More of Math at School and Home: Activities Designed by Teachers to Weave Math Throughout the Day
This interactive presentation aims to support teachers in providing math learning opportunities throughout the day while also contributing to children’s executive function development. Specifically, teachers will learn how to use free resources on the Development and Research in Early Math Education (DREME) website. These include research-based math center activities, developed in partnership with teachers, that are engaging for children and support rigorous math learning. In addition, teachers will learn about other free resources on the DREME website, including a set of family math activities to encourage school-to-home connections and support families engaging in math at home. There are also fun math activities for classroom transitions and routines and whole group activities to strengthen math and executive function skills, all developed in partnership with teachers and based on research. Finally, teachers will learn about modules designed to help educators develop math learning opportunities that are intentional, developmentally appropriate, and playful.
