Holland Banse

Holland Banse is an assistant professor in Early Childhood Education in the Human Development and Family Studies Department of the College of Human Environmental Sciences at the University of Alabama (UA). Prior to joining the faculty at UA, she completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Marsico Institute of Early Learning and Literacy, University of Denver, under the direction of Drs. Julie Sarama and Douglas Clements. Her research foci include supporting young dual language learners’ content learning, early childhood mathematics education, and the intersection of those two areas. She was an IES Pre-Doctoral Fellow in Educational Psychology-Applied Developmental Sciences at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education and Human Development (2013-2017), a 2016-2017 AERA Measures of Effective Teaching fellow, and a recipient of the 2016 SRCD-SECC dissertation award. Her work is published in multiple journals, including Teachers College Record, Early Child Development and Care, Journal of Educational Research, and Teaching Children Mathematics. She is also a former preschool and prekindergarten teacher.
