Jenny Yun-Chen Chan
Jenny Yun-Chen Chan is a postdoctoral scholar affiliated with the Social Science and Policy Studies Department and Learning Sciences and Technologies Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She was a doctoral student at the University of Minnesota, where she worked with DREME’s Dr. Michèle Mazzocco. For the Math+ project, Jenny evaluates the executive function demands of mathematical activities, and pilots these activities with preschoolers. For the Family Math project, Jenny codes parents’ and children’s attention to mathematical and non-mathematical features during play to examine the association between their tendency to attend to these features. Jenny’s research interests center on better understanding the factors that influence mathematical thinking and learning, and providing insight to support mathematical development. She earned her undergraduate degree at University of Wisconsin, Madison, where she completed a senior thesis on the influence of visual supports on learning geometry.
